1
00:00:02,440 --> 00:00:05,462
"... and help me, you archpriest, So
I can make this "Book of Good Love",
2
00:00:05,486 --> 00:00:08,530
"So it could cheer bodies and be good
for the souls." (Archpriest of Hita)
3
00:00:27,860 --> 00:00:32,400
The good love
4
00:02:44,530 --> 00:02:45,976
Oh boy, I thought I couldn't make it!
5
00:02:46,000 --> 00:02:47,000
Well...
6
00:02:47,070 --> 00:02:48,016
Take this, honey.
7
00:02:48,040 --> 00:02:50,136
- I thougth I'd leave on my own... if you were scared.
- I would've loved to wear trousers...
8
00:02:50,160 --> 00:02:52,320
I had to say we had to go to
the church in school.
9
00:02:52,360 --> 00:02:53,290
Did you ask for the trains?
10
00:02:53,314 --> 00:02:55,016
There are two. The first one leaves
from Toledo at one o'clock...
11
00:02:55,040 --> 00:02:58,400
- ...and the second one at quarter to seven.
- Oh! We only have 3 minutes! Let's go!
12
00:03:01,880 --> 00:03:02,756
What did you say at home?
13
00:03:02,780 --> 00:03:04,978
That I'd eat at school because
I had Greek lessons at two...
14
00:03:05,002 --> 00:03:06,842
...and later I would study at
my friends place.
15
00:03:07,120 --> 00:03:08,097
Are you happy?
16
00:03:08,121 --> 00:03:09,550
No, Jose, not in the lips...
17
00:03:21,450 --> 00:03:23,002
They're not leaving us alone.
18
00:03:23,048 --> 00:03:26,077
Did you see the face of that fat woman?
Like her husband never hugged her.
19
00:03:26,200 --> 00:03:27,440
We should've come in 2nd class.
20
00:03:27,517 --> 00:03:29,820
Easy girl! It's been 12 hours since
I saw you.
21
00:03:30,510 --> 00:03:35,700
We are on our honeymoon. We have to hang a
poster in that window so nobody disturbs us.
22
00:03:36,460 --> 00:03:38,230
Jose, maybe they come in again.
23
00:03:38,720 --> 00:03:40,096
- Who?
- Other people.
24
00:03:40,120 --> 00:03:41,566
So? We call the conductor.
25
00:03:41,590 --> 00:03:42,406
You are a punk.
26
00:03:42,430 --> 00:03:43,730
And you're a punk too!
27
00:03:44,880 --> 00:03:45,716
- Jose...
- What?
28
00:03:45,740 --> 00:03:46,496
Don't you notice?
29
00:03:46,520 --> 00:03:48,630
- What?
- The train is moving.
30
00:03:51,280 --> 00:03:55,707
Goodbye, Madrid! 'Til midnight.
You're running out of people!
31
00:03:55,731 --> 00:03:58,360
Look, my hostel is over there.
32
00:04:00,760 --> 00:04:01,760
Are you afraid?
33
00:04:02,600 --> 00:04:04,320
If they caught us...
34
00:04:05,030 --> 00:04:06,910
Now we can't get of
the train until Toledo.
35
00:04:06,970 --> 00:04:10,950
I'll get of in the first station, and then
walk and walk way back to Madrid.
36
00:04:11,590 --> 00:04:12,800
Look the Manzanares river.
37
00:04:13,940 --> 00:04:16,230
Ugh! How filthy! The water is so black!
38
00:04:16,470 --> 00:04:17,756
- Mari Carmen.
- Tell me, Charlie.
39
00:04:17,780 --> 00:04:19,450
We'll have so much fun in Toledo.
40
00:04:19,630 --> 00:04:21,540
Is the most beautiful city
in the world.
41
00:04:22,100 --> 00:04:24,107
It's such a pity I'm
not wearing trousers.
42
00:04:24,131 --> 00:04:26,160
I would've love to go all dirty.
43
00:04:26,270 --> 00:04:29,670
I'm planning on wearing blouse and trousers
for the whole summer in France.
44
00:04:30,810 --> 00:04:31,810
Are you listening to me?
45
00:04:32,030 --> 00:04:33,030
Are you listening to me?
46
00:04:33,070 --> 00:04:34,430
Oui, yes, I don't.
47
00:04:35,720 --> 00:04:37,410
Last night I received a letter
from home.
48
00:04:37,920 --> 00:04:41,740
My father keeps pushing me to work in
the bank when I finish college.
49
00:04:54,340 --> 00:04:56,540
Villaverde Bajo, first station.
50
00:04:58,300 --> 00:05:01,650
Excuse me, how far is it from
here to Madrid?
51
00:05:01,870 --> 00:05:05,160
Well... like 4 miles.
52
00:05:16,030 --> 00:05:17,470
The Hill of the Angels.
53
00:05:19,850 --> 00:05:21,980
There was a lot of battles around
here during the war.
54
00:05:22,430 --> 00:05:24,990
When I was little, we came here on
a school trip with the nuns...
55
00:05:25,037 --> 00:05:26,934
...and one of them almost die of
an sunstroke.
56
00:05:27,560 --> 00:05:31,780
It was when I would spend Sundays listening
to Father Benancio Marcos...
57
00:05:36,780 --> 00:05:40,450
Hey you, we've been together for
almost a year.
58
00:05:41,002 --> 00:05:43,562
You and me together for the whole day
without anyone watching us.
59
00:05:43,791 --> 00:05:45,734
Neither the family nor the boss...
60
00:05:47,482 --> 00:05:48,482
Not even our friends...
61
00:05:48,911 --> 00:05:49,806
Nobody!
62
00:05:49,830 --> 00:05:54,380
Do you realize? We'll eat whatever we want,
like we're married already.
63
00:05:55,270 --> 00:05:57,210
No Jose, Not in the lips...
64
00:05:57,270 --> 00:05:58,046
Why not?
65
00:05:58,070 --> 00:05:58,806
Just because.
66
00:05:58,830 --> 00:06:00,030
But why not?
67
00:06:00,230 --> 00:06:03,870
The more we wait to kiss each other,
the more we'll wait to go further.
68
00:06:03,928 --> 00:06:06,120
We've been a couple for a year,
you know...
69
00:06:06,300 --> 00:06:08,250
Yeah, I know, I'd like to
but it's not ok.
70
00:06:08,670 --> 00:06:12,470
Well, don't be mad at me.
We mustn't argue today.
71
00:06:12,650 --> 00:06:16,300
Come on, smile! Let me see your face!
72
00:06:36,140 --> 00:06:38,500
The land belongs to those who work it.
73
00:06:38,630 --> 00:06:40,097
Let's see when they go for that.
74
00:06:40,121 --> 00:06:43,230
In the north, where we're from,
they get more even.
75
00:06:43,980 --> 00:06:47,160
All of this is a estate of 3 hours of
through road.
76
00:06:47,760 --> 00:06:51,360
Thousands of acres! 2 or 3 villages
could settle here.
77
00:06:51,448 --> 00:06:53,048
This was made during
the Muslim conquest.
78
00:06:53,288 --> 00:06:55,345
Big areas were conquered.
79
00:07:50,470 --> 00:07:51,470
Tickets?
80
00:07:51,520 --> 00:07:53,580
Is there any train going back to
Madrid at 7?
81
00:07:53,670 --> 00:07:55,700
Yes. It leaves at 6:50.
82
00:08:11,210 --> 00:08:13,670
We would've travelled better
in 2nd class.
83
00:08:15,520 --> 00:08:16,216
Right, Mrs.?
84
00:08:16,240 --> 00:08:18,120
No, no. I'm not Mrs. Miss.
85
00:08:18,210 --> 00:08:19,046
Oh, sorry.
86
00:08:19,070 --> 00:08:21,447
In Catalonia making friends is
difficult.
87
00:08:21,471 --> 00:08:24,120
But when you make one is
forever.
88
00:08:25,270 --> 00:08:27,630
Your face seems familiar to me.
Where do you live in Madrid?
89
00:08:50,210 --> 00:08:51,927
Are you going to Toledo too?
90
00:08:51,951 --> 00:08:56,077
- Yes.
- Until recently I had to travel with my father's permission.
91
00:08:56,101 --> 00:08:58,077
Until 21 years old.
92
00:08:58,101 --> 00:08:59,927
Are you studying too right?
93
00:08:59,951 --> 00:09:01,070
Yes, philosophy.
94
00:09:01,150 --> 00:09:03,070
Oh, I studied education in Toledo.
95
00:09:03,470 --> 00:09:05,210
So is it the first time you go
to Toledo?
96
00:09:05,410 --> 00:09:06,410
Yeah.
97
00:09:07,070 --> 00:09:12,750
They ratify the first 2 years to
us, teachers, if we study pedagogy.
98
00:09:15,840 --> 00:09:19,950
In Madrid, the impression that girls
go to college to hunt is quite extended.
99
00:09:20,300 --> 00:09:22,300
We must recognize that is
the goal of many girls.
100
00:09:22,520 --> 00:09:25,900
The little you talk to one of them
you realize it's their only problem.
101
00:09:26,810 --> 00:09:31,270
Some of them are wishing to find a boyfriend to
leave their studies or to make him pay the steak.
102
00:09:31,950 --> 00:09:35,550
I did my public examinations,
I'm independent.
103
00:09:35,610 --> 00:09:39,640
I got my position and with the last reward
I'm getting around 3,000.
104
00:09:39,980 --> 00:09:41,870
I'm a nursery teacher in Pinto.
105
00:09:43,010 --> 00:09:44,810
Did you see El Greco's 'El Expolio'?
106
00:09:45,070 --> 00:09:47,900
- No.
- It's in the sacristy of the Cathedral.
107
00:09:51,920 --> 00:09:52,920
Lavre.
108
00:09:53,070 --> 00:09:53,786
What?
109
00:09:53,810 --> 00:09:54,787
Lavre.
110
00:09:54,811 --> 00:09:56,380
No, don't know.
111
00:10:00,240 --> 00:10:02,920
Aristocratic sport of four letters.
112
00:10:03,100 --> 00:10:06,040
Neither. You're always smoking.
113
00:10:13,120 --> 00:10:14,380
Valdemoro.
114
00:10:27,610 --> 00:10:28,610
Excuse me.
115
00:11:04,470 --> 00:11:06,320
If you wouldn't smoke..
116
00:11:06,810 --> 00:11:08,120
Does it bothers you?
117
00:11:09,437 --> 00:11:11,860
It's because you've been smoking for
two hours.
118
00:11:14,010 --> 00:11:15,240
It's La Codorniz.
119
00:11:15,720 --> 00:11:16,720
La Codorniz!
120
00:11:17,551 --> 00:11:19,174
I always buy it when I'm traveling.
121
00:11:19,528 --> 00:11:21,014
Just to kill the lonesomeness of
the trip.
122
00:11:21,038 --> 00:11:22,598
Even though this things
don't affect me.
123
00:11:47,810 --> 00:11:52,500
You know I'm here and you don't
care at all. What an uncomfortable time!
124
00:11:54,700 --> 00:11:58,097
How come you didn't shave yourself,
you really need it.
125
00:11:58,121 --> 00:12:01,810
Show me your teeth.
You're so ugly!
126
00:12:02,750 --> 00:12:05,320
Did you see the girl of our wagon?
127
00:12:05,670 --> 00:12:07,240
What a beauty huh?
128
00:12:07,580 --> 00:12:10,010
She works everything out. A real luxury.
129
00:12:10,640 --> 00:12:12,470
Why don't you marry her?
130
00:12:13,180 --> 00:12:15,150
If you hadn't showed up I would've died.
131
00:12:55,350 --> 00:12:56,810
And your father, what does he say?
132
00:12:59,210 --> 00:13:03,470
My father... says there are some
entrance exams for the bank in July.
133
00:13:05,210 --> 00:13:06,780
I think it's for the Santander bank.
134
00:13:07,840 --> 00:13:09,070
Only 2 vacancies.
135
00:13:10,550 --> 00:13:13,180
He says that people from college
have great future.
136
00:13:17,120 --> 00:13:18,870
How far are we from Aranjuez?
137
00:13:21,210 --> 00:13:24,270
Not much. 2 or 3 stations left.
138
00:13:28,240 --> 00:13:29,380
Excuse me miss.
139
00:13:34,870 --> 00:13:36,320
Boy, you never stop smoking.
140
00:14:10,920 --> 00:14:14,240
The more you smoke,
the more nicotine you need and so on.
141
00:14:36,210 --> 00:14:37,440
Can you give me my coat?
142
00:14:38,270 --> 00:14:39,270
Are you cold?
143
00:14:39,300 --> 00:14:40,950
No, I want the handkerchief.
144
00:14:53,150 --> 00:14:57,240
Strange weather...
but the heater is working well.
145
00:14:58,040 --> 00:15:00,210
If you're cold we could close the window.
146
00:15:00,300 --> 00:15:01,520
No, don't bother.
147
00:15:03,870 --> 00:15:05,580
It'll be better to close it.
148
00:15:10,210 --> 00:15:11,210
Thank you.
149
00:15:16,500 --> 00:15:18,580
The Parker 51, world record!
150
00:15:22,120 --> 00:15:25,100
Seems that man don't want to be seated.
151
00:15:27,240 --> 00:15:28,240
Excuse me.
152
00:15:30,870 --> 00:15:31,870
Let's go outside.
153
00:15:33,270 --> 00:15:34,270
Come on!
154
00:15:56,100 --> 00:15:59,750
In spiritual exercises
the priest said that kissing was not a sin.
155
00:16:00,550 --> 00:16:02,040
Even if it's on the lips.
156
00:16:04,920 --> 00:16:06,120
What's up?
157
00:16:06,410 --> 00:16:09,900
Nothing, it's in the coat.
Aren't you hot in here?
158
00:16:09,980 --> 00:16:10,980
It's really dirty.
159
00:16:18,550 --> 00:16:21,470
Will they throw us out of here?
160
00:16:27,550 --> 00:16:29,300
Look how you messed up my sweater.
161
00:16:31,270 --> 00:16:36,727
One girl from the faculty has married in secret
because her parents didn't let her do it.
162
00:16:36,751 --> 00:16:40,950
And now, the girl is going
to blow her nose. Come on.
163
00:16:49,500 --> 00:16:55,500
It looks like they're a good couple. They must be
really happy because each one of them is the ideal type.
164
00:16:56,240 --> 00:16:57,240
You're a kid.
165
00:16:57,300 --> 00:17:00,625
He must be really understanding with her.
166
00:17:00,968 --> 00:17:03,620
They're right for each other.
I really like her.
167
00:17:06,100 --> 00:17:11,700
Don't dare to take those pills!
168
00:17:12,520 --> 00:17:17,500
They're counter-productive, they'll overstimulate
your nerves and mess up your memory.
169
00:17:18,470 --> 00:17:20,640
I like it when you're like this,
natural and loving.
170
00:17:21,470 --> 00:17:23,870
Usually you're like a hedgehog.
171
00:17:25,950 --> 00:17:30,270
I don't want you to have regrets.
I want you to be relaxed.
172
00:17:31,550 --> 00:17:34,980
To kiss you is the proof
to show my love for you.
173
00:17:37,100 --> 00:17:39,100
You... can't control yourself.
174
00:17:39,180 --> 00:17:40,180
I know...
175
00:17:52,470 --> 00:17:53,470
You're dummy.
176
00:17:54,550 --> 00:17:56,180
You thought I wouldn't dare.
177
00:17:58,120 --> 00:18:00,270
I checked your tickets before right?
178
00:18:10,780 --> 00:18:12,320
Jose, it's raining.
179
00:18:23,470 --> 00:18:24,470
The Tajo river.
180
00:18:29,210 --> 00:18:32,980
The key, Jose, is having a boyfriend
and keeping your own personality.
181
00:18:35,120 --> 00:18:37,350
Now I'm more attached to you than ever.
182
00:18:38,750 --> 00:18:40,870
We've been separated not wanting to.
183
00:19:08,040 --> 00:19:10,320
The militiamen took the priest to Toledo.
184
00:19:10,440 --> 00:19:12,217
It's not going to be a
war like that everyday.
185
00:19:12,241 --> 00:19:16,120
The Spanish took the gold from America,
and then the communists took it to Russia.
186
00:19:20,380 --> 00:19:22,780
Mari Carmen, look, look.
187
00:19:23,700 --> 00:19:24,900
Shut up.
188
00:19:41,610 --> 00:19:43,300
Don't dye your hair!
189
00:20:01,980 --> 00:20:04,120
And inject yourself with the calcium!
190
00:20:23,520 --> 00:20:27,870
Look, see? That's the Tajo river.
We've almost arrived at Toledo.
191
00:20:44,920 --> 00:20:49,380
Sit, tiger! Still a few minutes left.
Come on, sit.
192
00:20:59,440 --> 00:21:00,470
Have a good trip.
193
00:21:00,500 --> 00:21:01,500
Thanks.
194
00:21:03,300 --> 00:21:04,677
Finally we're alone!
195
00:21:04,701 --> 00:21:08,296
Oh, please. When you do things
you're not sensitive at all!
196
00:21:08,320 --> 00:21:09,276
What's the matter?
197
00:21:09,300 --> 00:21:11,017
She noticed we wanted to be alone.
198
00:21:11,041 --> 00:21:12,041
So what do we care?
199
00:21:12,750 --> 00:21:14,840
You're not delicate, even less with me.
200
00:21:15,070 --> 00:21:16,870
You're embarrassed
because we're here alone?
201
00:21:16,900 --> 00:21:20,270
Please, don't be angry, come on!
202
00:21:21,320 --> 00:21:24,320
Whatever, it's only a few minutes left.
203
00:21:25,210 --> 00:21:27,610
Besides, they could've left us alone
in the beginning, right?
204
00:21:28,440 --> 00:21:31,150
What a crook I've left home with!
And you don't even thank me.
205
00:21:31,208 --> 00:21:32,208
That's enough!
206
00:21:32,294 --> 00:21:33,246
I'll pinch you.
207
00:21:33,270 --> 00:21:34,046
Get off!
208
00:21:34,070 --> 00:21:35,876
And let's see if you shave
as soon as we get there.
209
00:21:35,900 --> 00:21:37,900
Who loves you more than I do?
Ugly, more than ugly!
210
00:21:37,980 --> 00:21:40,840
I'll bite you Jose! Get off!
211
00:21:43,300 --> 00:21:44,580
Land ho!
212
00:21:53,950 --> 00:21:54,950
Bite him!
213
00:21:58,500 --> 00:22:00,950
Jose! Weren't you from Valladolid?
214
00:22:01,180 --> 00:22:03,100
I'm here to see El Greco boy!
215
00:22:03,350 --> 00:22:04,387
Still studying law?
216
00:22:04,411 --> 00:22:05,720
Yeah, what a life!
217
00:22:06,520 --> 00:22:07,356
You've finished right?
218
00:22:07,380 --> 00:22:08,870
I'm studying economics now.
219
00:22:09,700 --> 00:22:11,787
I saw you with a girl in the train...
Is she your girlfriend?
220
00:22:11,811 --> 00:22:13,720
No, no. She's a girl from Toledo.
221
00:22:13,750 --> 00:22:15,217
Hey, I don't have any girlfriend.
222
00:22:15,241 --> 00:22:17,270
Well... we could have a coffee if you want.
223
00:22:17,300 --> 00:22:19,470
No, man, maybe I get back
in the train at one o'clock.
224
00:22:19,610 --> 00:22:21,670
Call me at the hostel in Madrid,
you know.
225
00:22:21,720 --> 00:22:22,720
Bye.
226
00:22:26,877 --> 00:22:28,580
Hey, hold this.
227
00:22:28,900 --> 00:22:30,446
Do you know what my father says
about going to France?
228
00:22:30,470 --> 00:22:33,551
- What?
- That we're going to see things that we mustn't to.
229
00:22:36,270 --> 00:22:37,270
Do you feel sick?
230
00:22:37,410 --> 00:22:39,440
Not even a bit! Let me see, walk.
231
00:22:39,720 --> 00:22:42,550
Let me see that jacket...
I have to sew it up a little bit.
232
00:22:43,070 --> 00:22:45,270
Let's see if you shave
in the first barbershop you find.
233
00:22:45,640 --> 00:22:47,760
Guess who I just talked to.
Jose Maria from the Opus.
234
00:22:47,900 --> 00:22:49,617
Has he entered in the Opus Dei?
235
00:22:49,641 --> 00:22:51,097
Didn't you know? A year or two ago...
236
00:22:51,121 --> 00:22:52,757
He's one of those who marries or not?
237
00:22:52,781 --> 00:22:54,440
I didn't ask.
238
00:22:54,670 --> 00:22:56,617
Well, he was handsome.
Only the handsome ones enter there.
239
00:22:56,641 --> 00:22:59,047
He's studying economics, later
journalism and then whatever he wants.
240
00:22:59,071 --> 00:23:01,093
But let's wait here for a bit
because I don't want to see him again.
241
00:23:01,117 --> 00:23:02,317
People think badly very often.
242
00:23:02,440 --> 00:23:07,150
Alright, I'm getting a
postcard. Ciao, ugly.
243
00:23:08,120 --> 00:23:10,326
Could you do me a favor?
When does the train to Madrid leaves?
244
00:23:10,350 --> 00:23:11,440
6:50.
245
00:23:11,780 --> 00:23:12,757
Can I get the ticket now?
246
00:23:12,781 --> 00:23:14,670
No. Only one hour before the departure.
247
00:23:20,900 --> 00:23:24,617
Do you know that thing about El Greco?
He had astigmatism. Same thing goes for me.
248
00:23:24,641 --> 00:23:27,580
All I see is long faces.
249
00:23:29,350 --> 00:23:31,417
Where can we send this?
Do you want to write something?
250
00:23:31,441 --> 00:23:32,076
Is for Mari Tere.
251
00:23:32,100 --> 00:23:34,870
We could've bought round trip tickets.
It would've been cheaper.
252
00:23:35,357 --> 00:23:37,025
Shall we take a picture here in Toledo?
253
00:23:37,460 --> 00:23:38,591
Handsome, honey, pretty!
254
00:23:38,877 --> 00:23:41,077
You're way more handsome
than all the Opus Dei together!
255
00:23:41,320 --> 00:23:42,320
Even with that beard.
256
00:23:42,950 --> 00:23:43,876
Slacker.
257
00:23:43,900 --> 00:23:46,580
What a day! It stopped raining.
258
00:23:46,780 --> 00:23:48,410
We're so lucky!
259
00:23:48,720 --> 00:23:49,950
Come on, run!
260
00:23:52,670 --> 00:23:56,070
We have to smoke. Today we'll smoke
a whole pack of cigarettes.
261
00:23:56,410 --> 00:23:57,876
How many times have you been in Toledo?
262
00:23:57,900 --> 00:23:58,900
Two.
263
00:23:59,270 --> 00:24:01,240
Look the Alcazar, we have to go there.
264
00:24:05,670 --> 00:24:07,300
I hate Sundays.
265
00:24:11,300 --> 00:24:13,520
Sundays are such a pain in the ass.
266
00:24:14,070 --> 00:24:16,270
Witch! I love it when you're like this.
267
00:24:16,550 --> 00:24:18,276
What if we miss the
train? Aren't you afraid?
268
00:24:18,300 --> 00:24:19,640
We'll stay the night here.
269
00:24:19,670 --> 00:24:20,670
Sure?
270
00:24:21,720 --> 00:24:23,700
Or we could hitchhike!
271
00:24:23,980 --> 00:24:26,580
It's the Alcantara
bridge, from 9th century!
272
00:24:26,840 --> 00:24:28,786
I read it in one of my
father's books last night.
273
00:24:28,810 --> 00:24:32,440
Guess when I slept. At 2 am.
274
00:24:33,870 --> 00:24:39,870
This bridge was made by the Arabs
in the year eight hundred something.
275
00:24:40,950 --> 00:24:41,950
Kind of.
276
00:24:43,150 --> 00:24:44,520
It's a national monument.
277
00:24:47,720 --> 00:24:53,720
"The water of the Tajo, following the path of the
sun, surrounds the city in an eternal love embrace."
278
00:24:57,180 --> 00:25:00,810
Where did I read that?
That thing I read last night...
279
00:25:04,470 --> 00:25:06,210
The Door of the Twelve Chants.
280
00:25:07,270 --> 00:25:08,126
Stop!
281
00:25:08,150 --> 00:25:09,210
Stop there!
282
00:25:09,470 --> 00:25:12,270
I was born in 1942!
283
00:25:18,470 --> 00:25:21,920
Don't you see? The station.
We came from there.
284
00:25:22,520 --> 00:25:23,520
It's beautiful.
285
00:25:24,380 --> 00:25:27,210
This city is sensational.
286
00:25:28,350 --> 00:25:33,010
I think I'm a fool. I thought of
studying history but I chose French.
287
00:25:38,100 --> 00:25:44,100
I wanted to study art. It was what I liked the most.
In summer, I would read art books all the time.
288
00:25:48,410 --> 00:25:53,920
Boy, we're getting on our nerves.
What can we do?
289
00:25:56,300 --> 00:26:02,300
This sucks. I'll end up doing those exams for
the bank. At least I'll settle up with my father.
290
00:26:03,750 --> 00:26:05,210
I'll have to move to Valladolid.
291
00:26:06,210 --> 00:26:07,570
This is the worst time in my life.
292
00:26:07,920 --> 00:26:09,180
I'm not happy with anything.
293
00:26:10,580 --> 00:26:13,780
I don't know if it happens to you too,
maybe it's a normal thing.
294
00:26:14,410 --> 00:26:16,300
Maybe is because student life is over.
295
00:26:17,920 --> 00:26:18,920
Give me a penny.
296
00:26:29,720 --> 00:26:33,240
Have I told you that when I was 15
I failed one of the bank exams?
297
00:26:34,120 --> 00:26:35,380
It was for a bellboy vacancy.
298
00:26:35,640 --> 00:26:40,150
In the text I wrote 'yesterday' with an
'H'. I wrote it so big with a gothic font!
299
00:26:40,470 --> 00:26:41,470
With ornaments!
300
00:26:43,980 --> 00:26:48,780
In the letter, my father says the company
wants to retire him. At 62.
301
00:26:49,810 --> 00:26:51,640
And they only offer him 75,000 pesetas.
302
00:26:51,780 --> 00:26:53,217
Hell waits us when we get back.
303
00:26:53,241 --> 00:26:54,241
And now what do we do?
304
00:26:54,640 --> 00:26:56,240
Well, let's live here in Toledo.
305
00:26:56,950 --> 00:26:58,780
Come on, give me your hand. Let's go.
306
00:27:00,920 --> 00:27:01,957
Oh, my bag!
307
00:27:01,981 --> 00:27:04,270
Come on, run! Come on!
308
00:27:07,240 --> 00:27:13,240
Here we are! I'm going to shave,
wait for me at the cathedral!
309
00:27:14,040 --> 00:27:15,870
Don't go with other guys, you ugly!
310
00:27:22,150 --> 00:27:24,750
No, not from here. I'm from Valladolid.
311
00:27:25,700 --> 00:27:26,950
But I study in Madrid.
312
00:27:28,840 --> 00:27:30,670
The Pisuerga (river) city!
313
00:27:52,920 --> 00:27:55,550
Get the electric one, man!
314
00:28:15,530 --> 00:28:19,330
"The child Mari Carmen Bernaldo de Quiros verified
her first communion the day 11 of May of..."
315
00:28:20,590 --> 00:28:22,180
What is it like living here in Toledo?
316
00:28:22,240 --> 00:28:23,240
What?
317
00:28:23,390 --> 00:28:25,350
What can one do for good in this city?
318
00:28:25,720 --> 00:28:27,280
Apart from seeing monuments, of course.
319
00:28:28,420 --> 00:28:31,750
Here, that stuff, nothing. What a guy...
320
00:28:35,260 --> 00:28:37,110
Well... and with a girl?
321
00:28:38,460 --> 00:28:40,400
Nothing anyways.
322
00:28:49,640 --> 00:28:50,356
Should I shave it more?
323
00:28:50,380 --> 00:28:52,661
No, leave it like that. I'm
used to the electric machine.
324
00:28:54,560 --> 00:28:58,240
It doesn't matter that I'm a barber. I recognize
the convenience of the electric machine.
325
00:28:58,320 --> 00:29:01,630
It's true, it's worse for shaving
but you make it faster and without danger.
326
00:29:01,860 --> 00:29:03,940
Well, they better watch
out for that Pisuerga river.
327
00:29:04,140 --> 00:29:10,000
Starts growing, brings more and more water,
and spoils everything.
328
00:29:10,280 --> 00:29:11,960
Better be careful with those rivers.
329
00:31:13,400 --> 00:31:17,200
Boy you scared me! You're a crook!
330
00:31:38,900 --> 00:31:40,300
Who's that guy?
331
00:31:40,350 --> 00:31:41,046
My boyfriend.
332
00:31:41,070 --> 00:31:41,876
He's really cute.
333
00:31:41,900 --> 00:31:43,550
Where are you going to work this summer?
334
00:31:43,670 --> 00:31:44,670
France.
335
00:31:46,820 --> 00:31:49,920
I'm going too but on my
own, to clean up houses.
336
00:31:51,750 --> 00:31:55,500
80% of girls consider this boyfriend thing
like something temporary.
337
00:32:14,100 --> 00:32:17,620
Before I met him, there was this other guy
from the faculty who wanted to go out with me.
338
00:32:18,170 --> 00:32:24,170
It seemed like the perfect guy. Religious,
from a good family... Well, I didn't like him.
339
00:32:26,671 --> 00:32:29,271
- Who's that guy?
- And you know what he told me? - Her boyfriend.
340
00:32:30,020 --> 00:32:32,420
I had to be her girlfriend
but I didn't like him.
341
00:32:34,720 --> 00:32:35,977
Nothing, it's the boyfriend of that girl.
342
00:32:36,001 --> 00:32:37,220
Look at the roof!
343
00:32:40,750 --> 00:32:42,370
- What's up?
- Nothing.
344
00:32:43,300 --> 00:32:44,600
You look good shaved.
345
00:32:46,370 --> 00:32:47,146
Are you hungry?
346
00:32:47,170 --> 00:32:48,170
No.
347
00:32:48,600 --> 00:32:51,400
I know you, I know you very well.
348
00:33:00,850 --> 00:33:02,750
It seems they're not into religious stuff.
349
00:33:02,870 --> 00:33:04,700
I mean it's impressive.
350
00:33:04,850 --> 00:33:09,470
It's fine that they fall in love with that
kind of girls, but not only for their bodies!
351
00:33:09,550 --> 00:33:10,396
Do you feel me?
352
00:33:10,420 --> 00:33:12,900
Not at all!
353
00:33:17,850 --> 00:33:23,850
(Singing a song about the cathedral)
354
00:33:29,840 --> 00:33:31,350
Don't go so fast!
355
00:33:52,640 --> 00:33:53,640
No...
356
00:33:54,920 --> 00:33:55,920
No.
357
00:34:02,300 --> 00:34:04,610
Come on, let's see who goes up first.
358
00:34:14,010 --> 00:34:19,840
66, 67, 68, 69...
359
00:35:21,750 --> 00:35:23,270
Look, the Alcazar again.
360
00:36:10,320 --> 00:36:13,470
I'm a bit cold. I have a headache.
361
00:36:14,150 --> 00:36:15,500
Maybe I die.
362
00:36:17,640 --> 00:36:18,640
When will we smoke?
363
00:36:18,720 --> 00:36:20,010
Have any cigarretes?
364
00:36:22,900 --> 00:36:25,700
If I knew where my friend's convent is,
I'd visit her.
365
00:36:30,511 --> 00:36:31,504
Jose...
366
00:36:31,528 --> 00:36:36,100
Cristi went through hell because
her boyfriend couldn't control himself.
367
00:36:37,240 --> 00:36:38,780
They had to break up.
368
00:37:00,500 --> 00:37:02,960
Is it the first time you come here?
369
00:37:03,360 --> 00:37:06,270
Well then I'm going to
explain things for you.
370
00:37:06,500 --> 00:37:10,270
From here you'll see that everything here
is ancient. Century over century.
371
00:37:10,500 --> 00:37:16,450
As you can see, these lamps were taken out
during the procession's eve in august 14.
372
00:37:17,470 --> 00:37:20,900
Now you'll see the eyes of this monster,
let's see what do you think.
373
00:37:21,450 --> 00:37:22,650
I'll leave you guys alone now.
374
00:37:37,560 --> 00:37:42,050
I don't get anything but tips.
Only my husband gets his pay.
375
00:37:43,500 --> 00:37:44,930
Did you like it?
376
00:37:50,900 --> 00:37:51,947
She only gets tips!
377
00:37:51,971 --> 00:37:53,931
This is the monster of Toledo.
She only gets tips!
378
00:37:55,390 --> 00:37:58,020
Your jokes aren't funny at all Mari Carmen.
379
00:37:58,270 --> 00:38:02,190
What's wrong with you?
Didn't you say you've been here twice?
380
00:38:02,450 --> 00:38:03,450
Fool.
381
00:38:06,990 --> 00:38:08,870
Because what you said it's silly.
382
00:38:09,070 --> 00:38:10,730
Well, you're not exactly the best.
383
00:38:11,050 --> 00:38:12,446
Did I do something wrong?
384
00:38:12,470 --> 00:38:13,650
You tell me and that's it.
385
00:38:15,560 --> 00:38:19,730
Boy, you don't get jokes.
Want to me mad at me?
386
00:38:20,560 --> 00:38:23,020
You don't want to kiss me
because you're embarrased.
387
00:38:23,070 --> 00:38:25,020
Why did you come to Toledo? Tell me.
388
00:38:27,330 --> 00:38:30,700
Come on, tell me.
It was our idea to come here, right?
389
00:38:30,870 --> 00:38:32,470
Please, answer me.
390
00:38:33,160 --> 00:38:35,167
Weren't we sick of being watched?!
391
00:38:35,191 --> 00:38:38,130
Not finding a place where we
could be alone for a day at least.
392
00:38:38,220 --> 00:38:40,930
Without families, neighbors, nobody!
393
00:38:41,190 --> 00:38:44,620
Wasn't it what we wanted?
Aren't we alone now? Answer me.
394
00:38:47,070 --> 00:38:48,300
Don't go, answer me!
395
00:39:15,300 --> 00:39:16,930
When did the first train leave?
396
00:39:17,270 --> 00:39:18,620
At one o'clock, but...
397
00:39:20,190 --> 00:39:21,190
Are you stupid or what?
398
00:39:43,020 --> 00:39:44,020
Let's go eat something.
399
00:39:46,360 --> 00:39:49,130
Still have that headache? Are you tired?
400
00:39:57,820 --> 00:40:01,190
We're hungry. That's what's up.
401
00:40:01,470 --> 00:40:04,650
If you want we could go to
the drugstore to get an aspirine.
402
00:41:34,820 --> 00:41:35,820
Look!
403
00:41:47,270 --> 00:41:48,270
The fork!
404
00:41:49,730 --> 00:41:50,730
I'll stab you!
405
00:41:51,300 --> 00:41:52,300
Watch out!
406
00:41:52,760 --> 00:41:53,870
Be quiet!
407
00:42:05,220 --> 00:42:06,560
Wait for the omelette.
408
00:42:07,100 --> 00:42:08,567
Want some wine? Bring more wine lady!
409
00:42:08,591 --> 00:42:09,591
Ok.
410
00:42:22,360 --> 00:42:25,160
No, no! No way...
411
00:42:25,250 --> 00:42:27,990
Come on, come on.
You're the sick one so eat.
412
00:42:28,050 --> 00:42:31,530
The omelette is coming. Come on, eat!
413
00:42:55,020 --> 00:42:59,270
Jose, we're not going back home.
Honeymoon trips last 20 days.
414
00:42:59,360 --> 00:43:01,050
And we deserve more than that.
415
00:43:03,850 --> 00:43:05,420
More rice?
416
00:43:05,700 --> 00:43:06,960
I'm fine.
417
00:43:07,220 --> 00:43:09,330
Tomorrow you'll cook the same meal for us.
418
00:43:09,590 --> 00:43:15,590
Because we're staying 20 days, 30, 40...
Our whole life!
419
00:43:18,500 --> 00:43:23,390
Yes, yes. The number is 2762007.
Yeah, my adress is Juan Bravo 7.
420
00:43:23,420 --> 00:43:26,730
He's calling home. Two blocks
down the road, corner of Velazquez.
421
00:43:34,990 --> 00:43:40,990
Yes, please, I want to call to Madrid.
Number is 2535218. Will I have to wait much?
422
00:43:47,590 --> 00:43:53,590
Oh, I'm filling dizzy. It's alright...
the wine cures everything.
423
00:43:56,070 --> 00:44:00,990
Mon chéri! Cristi won't believe this!
424
00:44:02,870 --> 00:44:07,590
More than one hour? No, forget it.
425
00:44:14,190 --> 00:44:15,450
The coat.
426
00:44:20,130 --> 00:44:21,026
What's up?
427
00:44:21,050 --> 00:44:24,250
- I'm worried about that call.
- Don't worry.
428
00:44:24,700 --> 00:44:25,700
Coffee?
429
00:44:26,130 --> 00:44:27,930
Could you get us some coffee?
430
00:44:35,270 --> 00:44:36,270
It's going to rain.
431
00:44:47,420 --> 00:44:49,070
Come on Julito! Brings us some wine!
432
00:45:00,270 --> 00:45:01,330
Oh yes.
433
00:45:10,020 --> 00:45:11,820
Weren't you making that call?
434
00:45:12,350 --> 00:45:17,320
Well, let's not think about it too much.
We'll be having fun until then.
435
00:45:19,220 --> 00:45:22,220
To hell with all of them!
436
00:45:29,350 --> 00:45:31,470
It looks like we're in Madrid...
437
00:45:45,870 --> 00:45:49,600
Didn't you know that I saw Jose Maria, the
guy from the Opus Dei, again this morning?
438
00:45:50,020 --> 00:45:51,577
At the Plaza de Zocodover.
439
00:45:51,601 --> 00:45:55,120
He was with 3 kids. He was preaching.
440
00:46:06,150 --> 00:46:11,570
See, Jose Maria was a good friend. Then things
happened and we separated from each other.
441
00:46:11,720 --> 00:46:14,220
He's a great boy. He's great.
442
00:46:20,100 --> 00:46:22,600
I think those exams are set to next year.
443
00:46:23,220 --> 00:46:25,720
I should prepare myself
while I'm still at college.
444
00:46:27,700 --> 00:46:30,970
My father says that banks
are paying six bonuses now.
445
00:46:32,220 --> 00:46:36,720
Studying in college just to earn
2000 pesetas per month. It's ridiculous.
446
00:46:37,570 --> 00:46:39,550
It's going to rain at any moment.
447
00:47:00,720 --> 00:47:02,800
Do you think my family will know I'm here?
448
00:47:02,970 --> 00:47:04,227
Because of that call?
449
00:47:04,251 --> 00:47:05,720
- Yes.
- Don't be silly.
450
00:47:13,250 --> 00:47:18,650
Julito! Come on man! Bring us some
more glasses! You're falling asleep!
451
00:47:28,100 --> 00:47:30,420
Come on, tell me more
things about your family.
452
00:47:30,900 --> 00:47:33,470
I'd really like to meet your mother.
453
00:47:34,670 --> 00:47:37,050
Look, he's soaked to the skin.
454
00:47:37,750 --> 00:47:40,950
Boy, what a day... You're
lucky you're inside...
455
00:47:50,200 --> 00:47:52,520
You're right. It looks like Madrid.
456
00:47:53,450 --> 00:47:55,920
Come on kid, take the box!
457
00:49:00,450 --> 00:49:02,570
Oh, let me read the
letter from Mari Carmen.
458
00:49:03,220 --> 00:49:06,720
If she knew what I'm doing...
She'd kill me. She's so puritan.
459
00:49:08,400 --> 00:49:10,970
You've seen those pictures already, look...
460
00:49:11,750 --> 00:49:15,000
Those were the trousers I would've loved
to come with. Well I'll start reading.
461
00:49:16,650 --> 00:49:17,650
She's in Salamanca.
462
00:49:18,620 --> 00:49:23,650
"As I hate going out on Sundays, I spend my time
reading, listening to music and writing letters..."
463
00:49:23,750 --> 00:49:24,750
Well, this is boring.
464
00:49:25,670 --> 00:49:29,700
"It's no wonder...
what you say about marriage."
465
00:49:30,150 --> 00:49:36,150
"And that you've been shocked. And I'm not surprised
that us girls are not so clever about those things."
466
00:49:36,870 --> 00:49:40,270
"And you, with all your sisters married,
should be a lot more careful! Silly!"
467
00:49:40,700 --> 00:49:42,780
Look, that's Mari Tere,
the one with the white dress.
468
00:49:44,850 --> 00:49:48,100
"If you want to gain some weight,
you should only eat snacks."
469
00:49:48,650 --> 00:49:52,620
I wrote her that I was getting skinny
and you forced me to eat.
470
00:49:54,200 --> 00:49:59,127
"I think the novel you were saying was called Grand
Hotel, not Shanghai Hotel. Both by Vicki Baum.
471
00:49:59,151 --> 00:50:02,820
"But I think the first one is a lot
stronger and dirtier." Did you read it?
472
00:50:02,970 --> 00:50:03,970
No.
473
00:50:05,120 --> 00:50:08,650
I did. It was a special
time for me when I read it.
474
00:50:09,670 --> 00:50:10,670
Listen to this:
475
00:50:12,300 --> 00:50:15,000
Look, one of Mari Tere's
sisters is studying medicine.
476
00:50:15,820 --> 00:50:21,627
And of them, check this
out Jose, has two pictures.
477
00:50:21,651 --> 00:50:24,627
In the first one, there's
one guy with full beard
478
00:50:24,651 --> 00:50:27,650
and grown moustache, short hair
and wearing a suit! Etc, etc.
479
00:50:33,141 --> 00:50:36,638
And in the second picture,
after some kind of surgery...
480
00:50:37,152 --> 00:50:41,872
...the same person appears as a cute girl,
with blue eyes and all.
481
00:50:43,670 --> 00:50:45,300
I'll have to study this case.
482
00:50:49,320 --> 00:50:51,270
Oh man, I'm falling asleep...
483
00:50:58,100 --> 00:51:02,700
Hey you! Watch it! Those things are women
stuff! There are things you can't see.
484
00:51:02,750 --> 00:51:06,850
Come on, honey, seat well, come on...
485
00:51:09,620 --> 00:51:12,100
Oh, look, the address
of the hostel in France.
486
00:51:46,720 --> 00:51:49,150
Men aren't aware of anything at all.
487
00:51:50,820 --> 00:51:55,100
Women have more sensitivity than you,
but you don't appreciate it.
488
00:52:20,020 --> 00:52:21,170
Look, the keys.
489
00:52:28,750 --> 00:52:30,320
I think we shouldn't have come here.
490
00:52:36,300 --> 00:52:38,977
Do I have bags under the eyes?
491
00:52:39,001 --> 00:52:40,121
It's because of the anaemia.
492
00:52:40,170 --> 00:52:44,350
I'd like to find out where is the convent of my
friend. She would feed us with loads of sweets.
493
00:52:44,650 --> 00:52:48,600
Candied pears, spaghetti squash jam,
Toledo's marzipan...
494
00:52:49,150 --> 00:52:52,770
Mari Carmen, do you
hear it? It's your stomach.
495
00:52:52,920 --> 00:52:54,470
It's because of the wine.
496
00:52:55,070 --> 00:52:56,277
No. It's that quince jelly.
497
00:52:56,301 --> 00:52:58,277
- It's the wine!
- The quince jelly.
498
00:52:58,301 --> 00:53:00,300
I drank half a bottle!
499
00:53:00,420 --> 00:53:01,500
You...
500
00:53:01,670 --> 00:53:04,770
I've washed my hair this
morning but now I can't.
501
00:53:04,870 --> 00:53:05,870
How do you feel now?
502
00:53:06,320 --> 00:53:07,470
I feel better.
503
00:53:08,450 --> 00:53:10,277
But how much did you sleep?
504
00:53:10,301 --> 00:53:13,600
Oh, men are so rude.
You know nothing about women...
505
00:53:19,600 --> 00:53:24,620
I think it's the Clarisas...
my friend's convent...
506
00:53:28,400 --> 00:53:30,720
Let's see if you can find El Greco
himself in the painting.
507
00:53:31,420 --> 00:53:33,470
He's one of those gentlemen down there.
508
00:53:38,250 --> 00:53:41,950
It's called flamboyant
because of the flames' effect.
509
00:53:42,320 --> 00:53:44,750
He's the one in the sixth
place from left to right.
510
00:53:47,150 --> 00:53:51,220
One, two, three, four, five, six...
511
00:53:52,520 --> 00:53:54,720
It's the husband of the lady
who showed us that monster!
512
00:54:04,100 --> 00:54:10,100
I don't know if I have astigmatism or myopia...
but I see everything like El Greco did.
513
00:54:10,850 --> 00:54:12,870
Doménikos Theotokópoulos.
514
00:54:14,000 --> 00:54:19,920
I see everything foggy, surrounded by
dark... I can't see you. Where are you?
515
00:54:20,341 --> 00:54:22,364
Are you with me or... with other girl?
516
00:54:22,695 --> 00:54:25,164
I don't know why I love you, you tell me.
517
00:54:30,520 --> 00:54:32,250
Why do I like you?
518
00:54:33,541 --> 00:54:34,650
Why do I love you?
519
00:54:35,415 --> 00:54:36,810
Why do I like you?
520
00:54:41,550 --> 00:54:44,850
At first, I thought all the
handsome boys were stupid.
521
00:54:47,070 --> 00:54:49,970
I think I love you
because you're a show-off.
522
00:54:51,370 --> 00:54:54,920
Yes, and pretentious.
You don't let people talk.
523
00:55:01,650 --> 00:55:04,130
And everything about you is the best.
Did you bring the missal?
524
00:55:05,450 --> 00:55:08,120
Come on, kiss me... I love it.
525
00:55:11,920 --> 00:55:15,850
You're right. Sundays
suck. I prefer weekdays too.
526
00:55:16,820 --> 00:55:18,650
I would spend my whole life like this...
527
00:55:26,400 --> 00:55:29,970
- Is this tape recorded?
- Yes, it's recording tape.
528
00:55:32,400 --> 00:55:35,050
Have you visited El Greco's room?
529
00:55:46,900 --> 00:55:47,920
Here, "La Verónica".
530
00:55:53,870 --> 00:55:57,270
"... the discoverer of America, the one who
gave a whole new world to his homeland."
531
00:55:59,550 --> 00:56:00,550
Hey!
532
00:56:04,420 --> 00:56:08,470
This is the 'Appearance of Christ to Virgin
Mary'. Look, sir. The line of the hands.
533
00:56:38,100 --> 00:56:39,100
Stop.
534
00:56:39,970 --> 00:56:40,970
Stop.
535
00:57:02,620 --> 00:57:04,350
Oh, Motherland!
536
00:57:05,470 --> 00:57:06,900
Ok, ok, thank you.
537
00:57:07,920 --> 00:57:10,950
You're welcome.
You can go on with the same ticket.
538
00:57:11,100 --> 00:57:12,120
Well, thanks.
539
00:57:17,850 --> 00:57:20,950
Did you see the 'Venus at her mirror'
at the Velazquez centenary?
540
00:58:18,000 --> 00:58:21,896
"...sixteen years old, she filled her
Jewish home with joy and happiness.
541
00:58:21,920 --> 00:58:27,920
But one day, the heart of this gentile jewish girl throbbed
with unknown violence, with stronger and uneven rhythm.
542
00:58:27,970 --> 00:58:31,020
Like a bird leaving his nest.
543
00:58:31,220 --> 00:58:37,220
She felt a new sweet emotion. It was the triumphal arrival of
love. Love for a Christian gentleman full of valor and youth."
544
00:58:40,700 --> 00:58:42,070
Come on girl, it was only a joke.
545
00:58:42,340 --> 00:58:44,200
I swear I didn't do it to offend you.
546
00:58:45,090 --> 00:58:46,090
Did it hurt?
547
00:58:46,270 --> 00:58:47,450
I'm sorry, Mari Carmen!
548
00:58:47,880 --> 00:58:50,520
We were so happy
right before... I've lost it.
549
00:58:50,990 --> 00:58:53,520
Seems like we can't spend
fifteen minutes without arguing.
550
00:58:53,970 --> 00:58:55,600
If it's not my fault then it's yours.
551
00:58:56,140 --> 00:58:58,680
Come on, don't act that way!
I think it wasn't that bad...
552
00:58:59,860 --> 00:59:01,310
You can't be mad for nothing.
553
00:59:01,870 --> 00:59:04,350
One must shut up because
otherwise you'll get upset.
554
00:59:07,270 --> 00:59:08,270
Forgive me!
555
00:59:08,410 --> 00:59:10,090
I won't do it again! It wasn't on purpose.
556
00:59:10,440 --> 00:59:12,770
My hand slipped! What do
you want me to do, tell me!
557
00:59:15,650 --> 00:59:16,376
Tell me!
558
00:59:16,400 --> 00:59:19,580
Look, Mari Carmen, nobody saw us. If
you want to be upset then do what you want.
559
00:59:19,620 --> 00:59:21,720
But this... is nonsense!
560
00:59:21,760 --> 00:59:23,440
- Leave me alone!
- Besides, it bothers me!
561
00:59:23,790 --> 00:59:27,620
So if everything upsets you, you tell me.
You're being so childish.
562
00:59:27,930 --> 00:59:28,930
A silly child!
563
00:59:29,790 --> 00:59:31,070
Seriously, won't you talk to me?
564
00:59:31,320 --> 00:59:32,320
Don't want to talk to me?
565
00:59:35,770 --> 00:59:38,170
Are you stupid or what?!
What do you want to get out of this?
566
00:59:38,490 --> 00:59:39,490
Tell me, please!
567
00:59:39,950 --> 00:59:41,870
Is this going to be like
this for the whole day?
568
00:59:42,250 --> 00:59:43,710
It's been four times that we argue.
569
00:59:45,050 --> 00:59:46,250
Should we go on for ten times?
570
00:59:46,840 --> 00:59:47,840
Is that what you want?
571
00:59:49,130 --> 00:59:50,130
Please...
572
00:59:51,100 --> 00:59:52,380
Answer me if you like.
573
00:59:52,960 --> 00:59:53,960
If you want!
574
00:59:54,530 --> 00:59:55,530
If you feel like it!
575
00:59:56,960 --> 00:59:58,120
Don't you want to talk to me?
576
00:59:58,540 --> 00:59:59,540
Don't you?
577
00:59:59,890 --> 01:00:03,450
I'll wait for you at the station at 7. If you
want to come, come. If not, stay here alone!
578
01:00:03,890 --> 01:00:05,730
Come on girl, screw you!
579
01:01:17,560 --> 01:01:19,140
Hey, you fuckhead!
580
01:01:19,590 --> 01:01:20,536
And what is this?
581
01:01:20,560 --> 01:01:21,496
Cross sewing.
582
01:01:21,520 --> 01:01:22,376
And this?
583
01:01:22,400 --> 01:01:23,400
It's embroidery.
584
01:01:23,470 --> 01:01:26,640
Then the thread is removed
and it leaves a nice print.
585
01:01:27,940 --> 01:01:28,940
Girls!
586
01:01:36,820 --> 01:01:38,590
You girls are gonna be sightless.
587
01:01:38,650 --> 01:01:40,450
- How many tickets?
- Just one
588
01:01:41,140 --> 01:01:42,140
3 pesetas.
589
01:01:51,050 --> 01:01:53,480
- And you did everything all by yourself?
- Yes.
590
01:01:54,580 --> 01:01:57,580
This girl is laughing too much!
591
01:02:02,620 --> 01:02:03,730
Damn Juani!
592
01:02:04,560 --> 01:02:06,410
You keep going like this until tomorrow!
593
01:02:10,350 --> 01:02:11,960
- Don't you have any change?
- No.
594
01:02:13,400 --> 01:02:14,770
Then wait.
595
01:02:18,580 --> 01:02:19,970
So you're the artists.
596
01:02:26,730 --> 01:02:29,340
Come on, come on, stop,
you're gonna break yourself!
597
01:02:29,970 --> 01:02:31,410
And how do you solve this crossword?
598
01:02:33,850 --> 01:02:38,110
- Juani, you're dummy!
- My gosh, girl, you're worth a million!
599
01:02:38,450 --> 01:02:39,810
When do the movies open?
600
01:02:40,990 --> 01:02:43,550
That depends on what movie you want to see!
601
01:02:43,680 --> 01:02:47,200
- Some of them starts at 5.
- Yikes Juani, what did you eat today?
602
01:02:48,078 --> 01:02:49,078
Just one.
603
01:02:50,250 --> 01:02:52,421
- 2 pesetas.
- Ciao beauties!
604
01:02:53,278 --> 01:02:56,764
I would marry the
three of you all together!
605
01:02:58,307 --> 01:03:00,478
Hey, sir!
606
01:03:01,792 --> 01:03:05,107
- There's one theater opening at 4. Maybe it's open already.
- Thank you.
607
01:03:05,335 --> 01:03:07,964
It's a continuous projection cinema.
It's really close!
608
01:03:08,421 --> 01:03:13,450
- Go ask near the plaza next to the cathedral. You'll find it!
- Thanks pretty!
609
01:03:13,964 --> 01:03:15,621
Ciao Deanna Durbin!
610
01:03:29,221 --> 01:03:33,164
So this was a withdrawal place for women...
611
01:03:36,364 --> 01:03:38,764
Who wants to come with me to the movies?
612
01:03:41,107 --> 01:03:43,564
There you go Juani. Weren't you
saying how cute he was?
613
01:03:43,735 --> 01:03:45,255
Then go with him.
614
01:03:45,279 --> 01:03:47,964
Who's not afraid of coming with me?
615
01:03:53,564 --> 01:03:55,450
Juani are you coming?
616
01:03:57,678 --> 01:03:58,678
Are you?
617
01:04:06,078 --> 01:04:08,764
- Can I get some water?
- Yes, come closer.
618
01:04:14,421 --> 01:04:16,364
He's really nice...
619
01:04:22,810 --> 01:04:23,810
Come on.
620
01:04:24,341 --> 01:04:25,341
Come on!
621
01:04:25,415 --> 01:04:27,375
Don't you worry, I'll bring her back
in one piece.
622
01:04:28,638 --> 01:04:29,998
Ciao, it'll be your turn tomorrow!
623
01:04:37,221 --> 01:04:38,912
- Paul Newman!
- And what about actresses?
624
01:04:38,936 --> 01:04:41,198
Oh, it's not the same...
maybe Conchita Velasco.
625
01:04:41,222 --> 01:04:44,227
- Are you from Madrid?
- Cold, very cold.
626
01:04:44,251 --> 01:04:46,364
- But you're Spanish!
- I study in Madrid.
627
01:04:46,535 --> 01:04:50,375
I usually travel to Madrid for Christmas. I stay
over at my aunt's place. She's from Embajadores.
628
01:05:11,050 --> 01:05:12,050
Give me one.
629
01:05:46,650 --> 01:05:49,312
- Do you want to seat in the front?
- No, no, it's fine here.
630
01:05:49,336 --> 01:05:50,707
Thanks.
631
01:05:57,050 --> 01:06:00,821
No, no, no. Nothing happens until later.
632
01:06:30,992 --> 01:06:36,078
- Do you know when are the trains leaving?
- To Madrid? Oh, I don't know...
633
01:06:38,021 --> 01:06:40,627
- Will you be mad if we leave now?
- Now?
634
01:06:40,651 --> 01:06:43,964
- Stay here if you want.
- No, no.
635
01:06:44,250 --> 01:06:48,992
- Come on, stay if you want.
- No, forget it. I'm going with you.
636
01:06:50,364 --> 01:06:53,564
- Won't you be upset? You can stay but...
- No, no!
637
01:06:53,907 --> 01:06:56,650
I'm going to the station...
638
01:06:57,164 --> 01:07:00,821
I'm going with you. I
don't have anything else to do.
639
01:07:05,850 --> 01:07:10,592
- Still, you can stay.
- No, I'll go with you. Don't worry about me.
640
01:07:23,107 --> 01:07:27,792
- Seriously you're not upset?
- Don't worry, I'll go watch it some other time.
641
01:07:30,821 --> 01:07:36,535
- So your aunt is the sister of your father?
- Yes. She lives right next to the subway station.
642
01:07:47,221 --> 01:07:52,650
- Are you going to Madrid this Christmas?
- Yes. My aunt is sick so I go there to help her.
643
01:07:59,678 --> 01:08:04,078
- Excuse me, what's your name?
- Jose.
644
01:08:07,778 --> 01:08:09,435
Do you want some milk?
645
01:08:10,235 --> 01:08:11,435
Do you want some Juani?
646
01:08:12,292 --> 01:08:16,464
- Yes ma'am.
- That's what happens when you eat shortbreads. You feel thirsty.
647
01:08:17,264 --> 01:08:20,464
I'm eating these shortbreads
like everyday.
648
01:08:31,435 --> 01:08:34,007
- Do you want milk?
- Yes.
649
01:08:36,230 --> 01:08:39,770
- Do you like them? Want some more?
- Another half a dozen?
650
01:08:39,892 --> 01:08:44,864
- Yes.
- She's hungry, that's good.
651
01:08:53,683 --> 01:08:57,883
- Do you make them yourself?
- No, no, The baker makes them.
652
01:08:59,150 --> 01:09:03,327
They're easter cupcakes.
They have butter, eggs and flour.
653
01:09:03,351 --> 01:09:06,294
I thought they had more ingredients.
654
01:09:06,318 --> 01:09:09,260
Of course you have to know
the secret. That's the key.
655
01:09:09,284 --> 01:09:13,593
I prefer these rather than today's
marzipan. Today's marzipan sucks.
656
01:09:13,617 --> 01:09:18,750
Of course, you're right.
657
01:09:26,510 --> 01:09:30,850
- Can I pay you now ma'am?
- Yes, sir. No problem.
658
01:09:36,983 --> 01:09:41,050
Total: a dozen plus the milk, 26.50.
659
01:11:29,983 --> 01:11:32,316
- Yes, these.
- They're called Damasquinos.
660
01:11:32,516 --> 01:11:35,960
Look how funny are these Toledans couple.
And this garterana?
661
01:11:35,984 --> 01:11:39,050
- How much is it?
- 250 pesetas.
662
01:11:42,450 --> 01:11:44,916
- Thank you.
- You're welcome.
663
01:11:45,850 --> 01:11:47,983
Don't worry, I'll put it in it's place.
664
01:12:03,866 --> 01:12:07,110
Hello ugly! Easy tiger!
Don't scratch me!
665
01:12:07,134 --> 01:12:12,333
I said hello. Is everything ok now? Easy!
There's the guard and you're underage.
666
01:12:13,133 --> 01:12:18,910
Civil code 211. article: The responsibility of
those who are under the legal age applies to...
667
01:12:18,934 --> 01:12:22,510
First. The grandfathers.
Second. The grandmothers.
668
01:12:22,534 --> 01:12:25,800
Third. The oldest brother. And here I
am each one of them for you right now.
669
01:12:26,333 --> 01:12:31,666
- You're not funny at all.
- Man, the mute finally talks! This is a miracle!
670
01:12:32,200 --> 01:12:35,360
Look Jose, you're such a fresh. Besides,
I don't need you to walk around Toledo.
671
01:12:35,428 --> 01:12:36,468
There she goes again!
672
01:12:36,600 --> 01:12:41,133
Women are the only
pure and delicate saints.
673
01:12:42,045 --> 01:12:44,547
Last Sunday we spent the whole evening
in the subway because it was cold outside.
674
01:12:44,571 --> 01:12:46,771
Because we were sick of going to
the movies and coffees!
675
01:12:47,130 --> 01:12:51,200
- And now that we're alone you do this to me.
- Look Jose, I told you this in the train.
676
01:12:51,600 --> 01:12:55,200
The more you wait to do certain things
the more it takes for bad things to happen.
677
01:12:55,466 --> 01:13:00,000
But... just one spank, what a sin!
678
01:13:14,733 --> 01:13:17,600
But do you think you're gonna do
whatever you want?
679
01:13:17,933 --> 01:13:19,600
I shouldn't have let you kiss me.
680
01:13:20,466 --> 01:13:23,022
You're such a fresh! And I'm a fool...
681
01:13:26,866 --> 01:13:28,822
Mari Carmen, do you seriously mean than?
682
01:13:29,511 --> 01:13:30,831
That I shouldn't have kissed you.
683
01:13:41,244 --> 01:13:42,955
But who do you think yo are? Huh?
684
01:13:43,400 --> 01:13:45,720
That I'm not allowed to touch you?
That you're made of wax?
685
01:13:45,822 --> 01:13:47,782
You're afraid of everything but
you know who I am.
686
01:13:48,955 --> 01:13:52,111
How did your family educate you? Huh?
What do they say to you?
687
01:13:55,422 --> 01:13:58,933
Tell me, answer me, please. I'm your
boyfriend. You know what that means?
688
01:13:59,933 --> 01:14:02,464
But what does your family want? Does
their daughter have a boyfriend or not?
689
01:14:02,488 --> 01:14:04,422
Who am I supposed to marry...
you or your family?
690
01:14:06,000 --> 01:14:07,466
Why are you studying, tell me.
691
01:14:07,800 --> 01:14:11,177
Going to France... But every summer
you end up nowhere but home!
692
01:14:11,600 --> 01:14:16,200
"My aunt says this... my mother says
that..." France is not dangerous at all!
693
01:14:17,377 --> 01:14:19,217
They think you're coming back home
with a baby.
694
01:14:20,377 --> 01:14:22,937
What would happen to you if
there wasn't any boyfriend around...?
695
01:14:25,600 --> 01:14:27,600
Forgive me. I don't know
what I'm saying anymore...
696
01:14:27,933 --> 01:14:28,933
Forgive me.
697
01:14:30,511 --> 01:14:32,555
It's true.. We've been like
this the whole year.
698
01:14:33,244 --> 01:14:35,204
Then you marry and
you don't know anything at all.
699
01:14:36,088 --> 01:14:38,244
And I know I'm making you suffer...
700
01:14:39,666 --> 01:14:40,666
I'm sorry anyways.
701
01:14:44,377 --> 01:14:47,466
I love you. I really love you
Mari Carmen.
702
01:14:48,088 --> 01:14:49,266
I would like to marry you.
703
01:14:50,844 --> 01:14:53,644
At first, I'll earn little money but if
you want to help me..
704
01:14:54,200 --> 01:14:57,177
I'll keep studying.
You'll meet my mother.
705
01:14:57,201 --> 01:15:00,200
It isn't espectacular but both
mom and dad have worked a lot.
706
01:16:50,466 --> 01:16:53,133
And going to the movies on a date
depresses me...
707
01:16:53,337 --> 01:16:56,537
They always make you seat at the last rows,
where there are many other couples...
708
01:16:56,834 --> 01:16:58,731
...and if you don't leave a tip
they get upset.
709
01:16:59,022 --> 01:17:01,999
And if you go to have a coffee,
710
01:17:02,023 --> 01:17:05,022
you'll have to put something
to cover up your legs.
711
01:17:06,244 --> 01:17:07,955
Jose, we should get married.
712
01:17:08,711 --> 01:17:11,111
And I could teach some lessons or
go to work...
713
01:17:16,200 --> 01:17:17,200
Well...
714
01:17:17,844 --> 01:17:19,155
It wasn't such a bad day.
715
01:17:19,644 --> 01:17:20,933
I'll remember it.
716
01:17:26,155 --> 01:17:27,243
- Hey Jose.
- What?
717
01:17:27,267 --> 01:17:29,318
Can we go nearer Toledo
again? Will we have time?
718
01:17:29,342 --> 01:17:31,422
Let's go.
719
01:17:31,866 --> 01:17:34,733
I love you a lot more...
720
01:17:38,444 --> 01:17:40,765
When we get back to Madrid
you better take me home.
721
01:17:40,789 --> 01:17:43,133
I think I'll walk up
the stairs trembling.
722
01:17:43,200 --> 01:17:44,036
How do you feel now?
723
01:17:44,060 --> 01:17:45,733
- Tired?
- I'm feeling better.
724
01:17:45,866 --> 01:17:47,244
That spank woke me up!
725
01:17:49,311 --> 01:17:50,355
Hey, it's too late.
726
01:17:50,555 --> 01:17:53,153
- We don't have time to see anything. What should we do?
- We'll come back other day.
727
01:17:53,177 --> 01:17:54,666
We have barely have 30 minutes left.
728
01:17:55,933 --> 01:17:57,644
Why don't we stay 5 minutes more?
729
01:17:58,266 --> 01:17:59,706
And that guard is always over there.
730
01:18:00,422 --> 01:18:02,688
I have the water up to my neck.
You better pray for me.
731
01:18:03,155 --> 01:18:05,911
I'm in real trouble and
I won't even sleep.
732
01:18:06,860 --> 01:18:07,860
My mind has gone blank.
733
01:18:08,137 --> 01:18:09,782
Do you know how to make pumpkin pie?
734
01:18:10,422 --> 01:18:13,377
Of course, they don't prepare us
for college in school.
735
01:18:14,822 --> 01:18:16,598
- If I tell you something, will you get mad?
- Tell me.
736
01:18:16,622 --> 01:18:19,733
- Sure?
- We argued enough for today.
737
01:18:20,533 --> 01:18:25,044
You're gonna kill me you savage!
Was that what you wanted to tell me?
738
01:18:25,155 --> 01:18:26,155
Yeah.
739
01:18:40,000 --> 01:18:41,880
- Come on, girl. Let's go take that train.
- No.
740
01:18:42,111 --> 01:18:44,511
- Otherwise we'll have to run.
- Just one more minute please.
741
01:18:44,755 --> 01:18:47,044
Oh! We didn't get to see the Alcazar.
742
01:18:47,540 --> 01:18:49,020
I can't remember everything.
743
01:18:49,700 --> 01:18:53,040
I can only remember the war, the ration
books and the contraband in the Tajo river.
744
01:18:53,480 --> 01:18:55,640
Even though Valladolid is famous for
it's black market.
745
01:18:57,820 --> 01:19:01,960
I'd love to read a good book about
the Spanish War. I'm a bit confused.
746
01:19:03,440 --> 01:19:04,440
Hey you!
747
01:19:05,860 --> 01:19:07,940
We don't have much time!
No way!
748
01:19:08,740 --> 01:19:10,200
Mari Carmen! Come back!
749
01:19:18,080 --> 01:19:19,180
I got you!
750
01:19:23,780 --> 01:19:24,960
I got in first!
751
01:19:26,040 --> 01:19:27,480
I'm getting one postcard.
752
01:19:38,120 --> 01:19:40,700
- Did you save the museum tickets?
- Yes.
753
01:19:43,440 --> 01:19:44,980
Collecting this silly stuff...
754
01:19:45,740 --> 01:19:48,500
Come on darling, hold this,
it's your turn.
755
01:19:49,920 --> 01:19:51,560
You must be really tired huh?
756
01:20:08,914 --> 01:20:10,285
Come on! We'll miss the train!
757
01:20:10,834 --> 01:20:12,554
- Don't you know how to write?
- Write an X.
758
01:20:16,240 --> 01:20:17,520
Two 3rd class tickets to Madrid.
759
01:20:19,600 --> 01:20:22,900
And where do I send the postcard?
Will we have enough time when we arrive?
760
01:20:23,640 --> 01:20:26,240
It would be really funny if
we miss the train now.
761
01:20:26,760 --> 01:20:28,060
- Give me one penny.
- Here.
762
01:20:28,900 --> 01:20:31,440
- Isn't there any 2nd class tickets?
- Off you go!
763
01:20:32,500 --> 01:20:36,280
- But what about the postcard?
- Fly!
764
01:21:30,120 --> 01:21:31,880
THE END

'Wave' (Jobim) vs. 'Pat and Mike' (Raksin)
When I hear the musical score which plays over the opening credits of the film Pat and Mike (1952), composed by David Raksin, I'm immediately reminded of the song Wave, by Antõnio Carlos Jobim.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O narrador, no início do conto, diz:

A Futuristic Christmas Tale
(This could be expanded into a novel.)
All around the world except China and related Asian countries, Whites have converted en masse to Judaism, whereas all non-Whites and a few of the remaining Whites have converted to Islamism. A small minority of Christians cling to their old religion. They are banned from some places, but are tolerated in others. There is no longer any nation in the planet with a Christian majority; Christians are forced by circumstances to engage in financial and middlemen activities...

Bliss
Tem também aquele indivíduo que todo dia ao levantar-se abria a janela, dava um sorriso largo, respirava fundo o ar puro da manhã, e exclamava para si próprio: hoje é o dia mais feliz do resto da minha vida.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is also that guy who everyday, right after getting up, opened the window, gave a wide smile, took a deep breath of the pure morning air, and exclaimed to himself: today is the happiest day of the rest of my life.
